These rectangular textiles are made for and used by the Wodaabe people of Niger. These rectangular textiles are used by women as a wraparound skirt. This diaphanous cloth is first woven of very fine threads in narrow bands, then sewn together sided by side into a larger cloth before it is dyed indigo. The intricate embroidery is then added to the corner as a way of individualizing and embellishing the skirt. This textile measures: 42″ x 25″
