Vintage African Carved Elephant Head Wood Pipe Bowl

Pipe smoking of tobacco is a long-standing traditional activity in African villages across the Continent. Although many such pipes are common and ordinary in design the genre has given rise to a very well-developed form of African artistic expression. This pipe bowl is among the most exceptional with a elephant head wooden bowl, lined with aluminum. We did not find the original mouthpiece with the bowl when we collected this unique object. This is old and worn but remains in excellent condition. 4 1/8″ x 1 5/8″ wide x 2″ bowl height (10.5 x 4 x 5 cm)
