The most well-known air plant that’s remarkably low maintenance. Its leaves will turn red when it’s about to bloom. Although there are many varieties of ionantha, we mainly have the ionantha var. rubra, which features thick, vibrant green leaves.
AIR PLANT CARE
Almost all air plants prefer bright, indirect light. Full sun will cause browning of the leaf tips. Air plants absorb water through the hairs on their leaves (trichromes). Spray them at least twice a week with water. When indoor humidity is very low, you can also soak your plants for a few hours. Always make sure the plant has fully dried before returning it to its home to avoid leaf rot.
