Small 4-Head Contemporary Barbershop/Beauty Salon Sign

This sign was painted by an artist – who calls himself “Babs” in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. I met him at an exhibition in Ouagadougou and commissioned him to paint a large variety of this same style and size of sign, all his own creations. It measures 11 x 8″ (122 x 40.6 cm) and is painted on 1/16″ thick single ply wood. The names of the hairstyles seem to be his own inventions as well. Babs, like everyone in Burkina Faso, speaks French, the country’s official language, so many of his titles are in French although he sometimes uses English.
