Years ago, the British gave this Chinese green pearl tea the name Gunpowder due to its resemblance to pellets of gunpowder of that age!
Immediately after being plucked the tea leaves are steamed, rolled into tiny pearls and left to dry. It is the preferred green tea of North African mint teas.
This Gunpowder Green Tea produces a light yellow infusion with a satisfying, bittersweet taste and fresh green aroma.
Unlike black tea, green tea should not be made with boiling water, use water just off the boil (80°C) and it should only be steeped for 2 – 5 minutes to avoid an overly bitter taste.

As the planet means so much to us, in 2018 we took the leap to be one of Britain’s first 100% plastic free tea companies.
We started packing our loose-leaf tea in a bag made from fast growing eucalyptus tree cellulose, so no nasty plastic in landfill. Then not stopping there, we went through a change of packaging, utilising vegetable inks print on our tea boxes, closing the whole circle making it all kind to the planet!!
