These Batwa baskets feature raffia wrapped coils in a contemporary salmon/white ascending staircase design on a dark brown background. The Batwa – the Twa people, a “pygmy” people – live in the border area of southwestern Uganda, northwestern Rwanda and eastern Congo, in the area of the Ruwenzori Mountains, in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
