Buying the right stock, in the right amounts, is a challenge for any retail business. But when that stock is clearly tied to a particular event, this becomes even trickier to get right. Think twice before you stock up on those wholesale chocolate advent calendars, or advent candles in bulk, since seasonal products are often considered the most common example of dead stock.
Ideally you’ll have data from previous years to help you forecast what you need. But don’t be afraid to take risks, too; you have 60 days to return anything that doesn’t sell to us for a refund (as long as it’s from brands you haven’t bought from before), removing the risk of losing money by overstocking.
When should I start stocking up for Christmas?
We start seeing retailers shopping for their Christmas wholesale products in August, with searches increasing into the autumn months. Remember that people will need products like Christmas cards and Christmas decorations up to a month before the day itself, so be sure to factor that into your timeline.
